Groups are needed to volunteer at the monthly Wellsville Community Meal

 By Mary Gardner-Ruch

On Saturday, June 17th, the Allegany County Democrat Volunteers, bought food, prepared and served a free Community Meal held at the David A. Howe Public Library.  The meal was prepared at the Grace United Mission Center’s certified kitchen and then delivered by volunteers to the library.

The next meal is planned for July 15th at noon.  There is no registration required.  A picnic is being prepared and will be served on the library terrace, weather permitting. If it rains, the Wellsville Creative Arts Center has offered their space for the meal.  York’s Corners Mennonite Church Volunteers will prepare and serve the food.

Groups who would like to participate can contact Robin Kellogg at 585-593-4982 or kelloggsalpacas@gmail.com.

As well as volunteering to prepare a meal and serve, donations of paper plates that are divided into sections, cups, plastic silverware, napkins, coffee, lemonade, iced tea, or monetary donations to purchase these items is appreciated.  Nick Davis or Kate Miller at the library can accept donations.  Snacks and fruit are being provided for attendees to take home by the Salvation Army.  These types of donations are appreciated as well.

At Saturday’s meal, Bill Nash played his guitar and sang folk songs that many were familiar with.  Entertainment is welcome.  Some attendees stayed to play games.  If you have a game that you would like to share, you might consider participating in this way.
