The Whitesville Rod and Gun Club was the host sight for the  18th Annual Whitesville Marsh Fishing Camporee June 9-11.  Wellsville Troop 733  currently plans and carries out the event.

6 troops of boys joined Troop 733 for this fun event.  Many scouts took  the opportunity to earn the Fishing Merit Badge. They were serious in their efforts to catch the largest fish and most fish.  Even after the contest ended at 8pm many tried their hand at fishing after dark using headlights, while most enjoyed the warmth of a campfire.

In addition to the fishing adults and youth found out what a weekend phone free is like!   The club property is in a tight valley that no signal penetrates

The boys with the Kayak are Troop 601 from Franklinville

The event ended Sunday morning with a pancake breakfast for everyone in the club pavillion where wards were presented. The largest fish was a 14 inch bass caught by Max Pilon from t roop 325 from Elma NY. Most fish award went to Carson Whitephipps  Troop 736 Angelica NY.  Wellsville’s newest business, Runnings, showed its support  of our community by donating a Kayak to the Camporee. All boys were given a ticket for the drawing.  It was won by George Dick Troop 601 Frankinville NY.

Thomas Goode won the Camper of the year for his willingness to spend hours at the waterfront helping those not to skilled at fishsing. All boys went home with a door prize of fishing or camping items.
