10TH Annual tournament from the Ancient Order of Hibernians

From the Allegany County Ancient Order of Hibernians

The wait is finally over as the Allegany County Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) 10th Annual Irish Road Bowling Tournament will be held this Saturday June 10th at the Kilbane Road course in the Town of Andover, NY!   Last Years event drew over 80 two person teams and overall Andover’s’ Mark Joyce and Wellsville’s Shane Dunbar are the defending overall Champions and hold the course record with 21 throws on the 1.25 mile course. They have been challenged of late By Jimmy Joyce and Ryan Clark of Andover so it should be another great tournament!   Registration will again be at 10 am to 3 PM at the large AOH Tent at the four corners registration area and starting line area on Kilbane Road.

AOH Member Brian Cannon “expects a large turnout again for our annual Irish Road Bowling Fundraiser which benefits the many local charity’s and organizations that we donate to every year.   Last year we has 81 teams and we have first place awards for the lowest number of combined throws in 5 categories-Mens Open, Women’s Open, Senior, Mixed Doubles and Under 16  categories.   Our AOH Irish road bowling event is family oriented and we have refreshments and food available at the Andover Rod & Gun Club which is about at the half way point on our 1.25 mile Road Bowling Course.  This is fun event and a chance to get some exercise with friends and family in the beautiful hills of Southeast Allegany County, NY.  It takes approximately 90 to 120 minutes  minutes to complete the course.

Cost for each 2 person Road Bowling Team is $30.00 ($20.00 for Under 16 teams) and like the game of Golf, the lowest combined throws of the 28 ounce bowl wins.  Should there be a tie score, the furthest final throw past the finish line will determine the winning team in each team class.
