Haze covers western New York from Canadian wildfires, see satellite imagery

Air quality warnings are in place, those with respiratory issues advised to stay inside

The Genesee Valley looks and smells of burning Quebec forests today, as air quality warnings remain in effect. From this hilltop office, the air smells strongly enough to wonder if the nieghbors house is on fire or if a nearby farm field is smoldering.

Social media is full of striking sunset photos, filtered through the wildfire smoke. The Brandes family enjoyed this scene last evening in Wellsville:

The National Weather Service tweeted this just a few hours a go with a graphic showing the massive smoke dispersal across most of the east coast:
