Fatal motor vehicle accident on NYS Route 417 in Wellsville

A head-on collision leaves one dead, one in serious condition

As the community was grieving and mourning the passing of Josh Bierman, another tragedy struck. At about 6pm Friday evening the local first responder page, Allegany Fire Wire, reported: “417 is closed for unknown period of time. Due to a serious motor vehicle accident.”

This morning the sad details of the crash were released by the New York State Police:

On June 2, 2023, at 6:01 P.M., Troopers out of SP Amity responded to a two-vehicle collision on State Route 417 in the town of Wellsville. Investigation determined that a 2015 Nissan was traveling west bound on State Route 417, operated by Joeie A. Greenman, 17 of Alma, NY and crossed the center line.  The Nissan struck a 2013 Ford head-on. The operator of the Ford, Courtney M. Clark, 32 of Emporium, PA was pronounced deceased at the scene. Greenman was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital via Mercy Flight with serious injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this investigation.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
