Fred Roberts is back in the news today! The Commander of the Sons of the American Legion at Post 702 in Wellsville is Fred Roberts IV.

Roberts led a group of fellow patriots into the hills outside of Bolivar NY on a mission: Raise a massive American Flag that will be visible, night and day, to those who are traveling on Route 417.

The group really wanted to have the flag installed by Memorial Day: Mission Accomplished!

The location is on private property just past the Baldwin Lumber Company. The Baldwin family graciously provided the perfect hillstop location and prepared the site for the “Sons” to install the flag.

Locals who live that “neck of the woods,” helped Roberts and his crew with the installation which required some specialized help.

The Sons of the American Legion purchased the flag, equipment for hanging the flag, and solar powered lighting with the proceeds of the annual Ham and Leek Dinner.
