The recycling center has shuttered as of May 19

From the Arc Allegany-Steuben:

WELLSVILLE, NY – The Arc Allegany-Steuben (The Arc), a not-for-profit agency that provides supports and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities that owns and operates the Wellsville Redemption Center, announced it will be closing the business permanently May 19, 2023.

There are several factors that went into the decision to close the business but the largest being the increase in the state’s minimum wage over the past several years has increased labor costs, without an increase in the bottle bill’s handling fee. The failure of the New York State government to modernize the Bottle Bill also has a huge impact on the business.

The Arc would like to thank the Redemption Center’s management and staff for their hard work and dedication through the years, as well as the Redemption Center’s loyal customers for their support.

Other local businesses in the area that provide can/bottle return services include Giant Food Mart (44 Park Ave, Wellsville) and Tops Friendly Markets (111 Bolivar Rd, Wellsville).
