By Mary Gardner-Ruch
Sunday, May 7th, was a special day at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Wellsville. The Rt. Rev. Stephen Lane, Bishop from the Rochester Diocese paid a special visit to Wellsville to perform the baptism of Michael Evans and to dedicate the bus stop in front of St. John’s on North Main Street in Wellsville.

During the service, participants were invited outside to the bus stop where the Bishop stated: “Today we gather to dedicate and bless this Bus Stop as a sign of God’s love for all people. As a place of shelter and comfort from rain and cold, it is given by the good people of St. John’s in cooperation with the leaders and people of Wellsville.
A reception followed the service in the undercroft of St. John’s for Bishop Lane and for their newest baptized member, Michael Evans.

St. John’s is also a partner in the work of the Community Kitchen which provides a free community meal on the third Saturday of each month at the David A Howe Public Library in Wellsville. The next meal is May 20th at noon.
