Track and Field Invitational started in 1933
The 36th Annual Wellsville Elks Spring Day Track & Field invitational will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Sports Complex located behind the Washington Elementary School.
This event has a long history in Western New York State. It was originally started in 1933 and was sponsored by the Merchants Division of the Wellsvillle Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Wellsville Athletic Department and legendary Coach Sid Miles.
Over the years, The Athletic Department continued hosting this event which reached at one point 22 schools/teams from around the region. The Wellsville Elks Lodge took over the sponsorship in 1988 by providing T-shirts for the winners of each event. This has proved to be a great success as many athletes have proudly displayed their Elks Spring Day champion T-shirt at various other meets in the region and at state level competitions. The Wellsville Elks Lodge members over the years, have lent a hand in helping officials with timing, raking pits, and other meet management duties.
This year will be the 36th year the Elks have lent their support to this event, and we are looking forward to many more years to come.
