April 22 on Main Street Alfred NY

ALFRED, NY– Hot Dog Day, the annual springtime celebration hosted by Alfred University, Alfred State College, and the Village of Alfred, will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, April 22.

This year’s event will return to Main Street in Alfred, following several years of being held alternately on the Alfred University and Alfred State campuses. The traditional celebration was interrupted by COVID in 2020 and 2021 before being held on the Alfred University campus last year.

Several events are planned for this year’s Hot Dog Day celebration.

Weiner dog races will be held in the Jordan Hall lawn on the Alfred University campus at 11 a.m., followed by the Hot Dog Day parade down Main Street beginning at noon.

A street fair will be held on Main Street immediately following the parade, until 5 p.m. It will feature vendors, hot dog stands, inflatables and games. Carnival games and rides will be offered on Parking Lot 3 on the Alfred State College campus from 1-5 p.m. Live music at the Village of Alfred Bandstand will be performed from 1-5 p.m.

A “paint and powder party” (for Alfred University and Alfred State College students) will be held from 7-10 p.m. in the Jordan Hall parking lot. An outdoor movie, “Sausage Party,” (also for Alfred University and Alfred State College students) will be shown, weather permitting, at 10 p.m. in the lawn between Alfred University’s Powell Campus Center and Herrick Library.
