As part of National Public Telecommunications Week, we would like to not only recognize the incredible work of the understaffed and overworked 911 dispatchers, but SHOW you how rewarding the job can be.

In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, here is a video of Allegany County 911 Emergency Services Dispatcher Casey Howe calmly delivering a baby from the 911 center in Belmont.

The video.

Thanks to Sheriff Scott Cicirello, Lieutenant Andrew Bigelow of the Sheriff’s Department and long-time dispatcher and legend Randy Swarthout for their assistance in making this. Wellsvillesun.com video by John Anderson.

This call came in well over a year ago as we are protecting the identity of the caller.

In case you missed it, Allegany County Sheriff Scott Cicirello honored dispatchers as well:

“We are very fortunate to have the very best 911 Emergency Services Dispatchers right here in Allegany County.

“I started my career as a dispatcher and can tell you that the job they do now is far more complicated than it was 30 years ago. As recognized First Responders, their job is absolutely critical in obtaining the necessary information and coordinating the proper response for EMS, Fire and Police.

They have an enormous task and responsibility and they do it with professionalism and efficiency. Thank you to the Allegany County 911, University Police and Wellsville PD Dispatchers for a job well done.”
