Trump Arrest Poll: Where do you stand on the historic indictment of a former US President

Donald Trump was arrested on 34 felony charges

By Andrew Harris

We really try to steer clear of national politics. Most of the time it takes reading four different sources just to get to some middle ground of understanding. In this case, the first time a former POTUS has ever been indicted, it takes at least six different sources just to get a baseline.

Also a candidate for President in 2024, the charges against Trump carry more weight in the public debate. This is a set of national political circumstances that come right from a fiction novel, a constant escalation of a story that has no denouement. Many keen observers agree that this will not be former President Trump’s last brush with the law. He faces several more criminal investigations into his actions relative to the 2020 election, into refusing to return classified documents, and into his role in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Those cases remain to be resolved in the court system and the 34 charges brought by Manhattan NY District Attorney Alvin Bragg will almost certainly take years to resolve.

While the populations of both Allegany and Steuben County have strongly supported former President Trump in the 2016 and 2020 election, many former Trump supporters say they have had enough.

What do you say? Does former President Trump have to account for accused crimes just as any other US citizen? Or, is this 34 count indictment by a NY State court a misguided attempt to convict a former US President, which sets a dangerous precedent?
