Martelle Dance Academy leads dancers to victory at Shea’s

By Andrew Harris

A group of local performers struck gold over the weekend at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in downtown Buffalo NY. The Allegany Steuben ARC partnered with Wellsville-based Martelle Dance Academy for an amazing experience. Instructor and choreographer Kate Martelle took on the project as a labor of love and was floored when the work paid off with a 1st place finish!!

“StarQuest wanted to give us our awards since we were leaving early (award ceremony is at 10:45pm). So we had a little ceremony backstage!!

We won 1st Place, Ultimate Platinum, Top Score and a special judges award for Bravery!

We couldn’t be more proud of these amazing dancers!! Great job everyone!! 🎉

A huge thank you to StarQuest for being absolutely incredible!!”

Martelle reports that the dance brought out the best in the performers and got high marks from the professional judges:

“The Arc Angels scored 294.5 out of 300 points! Here are a few comments from the judges; “brought beautiful energy to the stage”, “your smiles are lighting up my entire day!”, “High Entertainment Value!” “this is what dance is all about”, “so fun to watch”, “really strong movements”, “lovely sense of rhythm”, “really strong work dancers”, “so much confidence”, “good synchronization”.

We hope you enjoy their performance as much as we did! ❤️
