Newstead, NY –  On February 27, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., State Police were assisting a disabled vehicle on I-90 westbound, between exits 48A (Pembroke) and 49 (Depew).  Trooper Kevin R. Jobity, of SP Buffalo, was parked behind the disabled vehicle on the left shoulder, with emergency lights activated, when his Troop car was struck from behind.

Quinten P. Simet, 25, of Hamburg, NY, was operating a 2007 Toyota when he was driving too fast for the road conditions, lost control of his vehicle and struck the Troop car.

Trooper Jobity was seated in the Troop car at the time of the crash and was transported to Erie County Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been treated and released.  Simet was not injured and was issued traffic tickets as a result of the crash.
