Plans for family sit-down and fast food development on I-86: What do you want to eat ?

By Andrew Harris

The county economic minds have long hoped to provide more developement at the Route 19 / I- 86 interchange, coined the “Crossroads,” area. Currently we have a Quicklee’s Travel Plaza after many years of an empty parking lot. The numbers aren’t readily available but that new plaza has already brought thousands of tax dollars into Allegany County.

Drawing traffic off I-86 is one of the largest opportunities we have. The interstate highway and state route intersection has thousands of vehicles driving through each day. Those vehicles need gas and the drivers get hungry, need a restroom, or a cup of coffee. That economic activity is very important, both for the owners of the business travelers patronize, and the county taxpayer.

That is why Allegany County has already begun the work of preparing sites for three key businesses: A hotel, a family/sit-down restaurant, and a fast food joint. Ideally, economic development professionals will have multiple food service operations interested. In this poll we’ve provided five awesome combinations of two restaurants for your consideration. Vote on the combination you like best:

Olive Garden and Arby’s ?? Texas Roadhouse and Chipolte ? Applebee’s and Wendy’s? Cracker Barrel and Chik Fil-A? Buffalo Wild Wings and Taco Bell ?
