VIDEO: Wellsville sophomores Ty Vogel and J.J. Howard throw down dunks over Hornell, bonus dunks and plays of the week video

There have been some big dunks over the years for Wellsville basketball, Jason Szabo, Rich Ewell and Max Jusianiec.

Most were their senior year.

On Friday night, Wellsville sophomore Ty Vogel got things going with a one-hand jam. Moments later, fellow sophomore J.J. Howard on a feed from Aidan Riley threw down a monster two-hand jam.

We are looking for the video, but the best dunk in Wellsville history was by Ewell, in traffic over several defenders in a state qualifier game for the Lions. Ewell went on to play football at St. John Fisher, but that dunk after a Section V championship win was legendary.

We made sure to include a photo by Paul Jannace at the end of the dunking video.

Jusianiec, who is playing at the College of St. Rose, is in the video for not only a dunk, but a game-winning 3-pointer, both made WHAM-13 plays of the week.

We couldn’t find any girls dunks, but if someone could come close, it would be Jordyn Pettit. We added the WHAM-13 play of the week — a first for the station — it was an assist from Rayanna Anderson to Pettit during the Lions Section V championship win. Both players went on to play at Alfred State, Anderson kept passing and led NCAA Division III in assists her senior year.

If you have the link to the Ewell dunk, let us know in the comments on Facebook, or if you have VHS tape of Szabo dunks or any other great plays!
