Police agencies looking for man with gun after ‘isolated incident’ between Wellsville and Andover

Police from several agencies were in Elm Valley on Tuesday night looking for a suspect with a gun from an incident.

There were unconfirmed reports of a hostage situation around 8: 15 p.m.

Neighbors on State Route 417 near the County Road 12 intersection were told to stay inside.

A state trooper at the scene told the Sun there was a suspect with a gun and it was not a safe place to stop. An officer at the scene confirmed there was one suspect they were looking for with a gun.

When asked if the public should be concerned, the officer said “this is an isolated incident.”

There were Allegany County Sheriff deputies down the road toward Andover with their lights shining toward the fields and a large presence of New York State Police vehicles on the road next to Rockaburger.
