Connie M. Shuttleworth, 72, passed away on Wednesday (November 23, 2022) at Guthrie Corning Hospital following a brief illness.

Connie was born on February 18, 1950 in Hornell to Laurence E. “Bud” and Dolores M. (Osmin) Morris. She was a 1968 graduate of Wellsville Central School.

Connie worked as a Certified Nursing Aide for Jan and Bev’s Home Care from the early 1980’s until 1990 when she left to work for Doris Grames, also as a Certified Nursing Aide. She finished out her career as a security guard for Dresser-Rand in Wellsville, retiring in 2002.

Connie is survived by three daughters, Tammy Foster (Doug Dixon) of Selma, N.C., Patricia Foster (Robert Smith) of Owego and Suzanna Foster (Randy Preston) of Corning; two sisters, Roxanne Baldwin and Bonita Baldwin (Charlie), both of Wellsville; a brother-in-law, Mike Robbins; four grandchildren, Sonia Bailey, Trenton Schoonover, Cheyenne Dahill and Cassie Foster; two great grandchildren, Damien Marble and Lily Sutton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Ramona Baldwin and a brother, Laurence Morris, Jr.

Connie had a life-long passion of knitting. She was always knitting a hat, scarf or a pair of gloves to be donated to the Salvation Army for someone in need. There is an unfinished pair of gloves on the list of things to be done.

A favorite memory for the girls growing up was the Sunday afternoon dinners at Grandma Morris’ house. This was a welcome constant in her ever-changing world. Sue recalls the many times laying on the bed sharing all her happenings with her mom, feeling the freedom to pour out her heart with all her many secrets. That bond continued as adults and the daily phone calls. To her, Mom was her best friend. Connie also enjoyed visiting The Windmill Farm and Craft Market and the Cohocton Fall Foliage Festival.

There will be a time of visitation on Tuesday (November 29) from 12-1 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation. Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.

Memorial contributions in Connie’s name may be made to Salvation Army, 25 Pearl Street, Wellsville, NY 14895. © 2022 Baker-Swan Funeral Home.
