The race for the next Congressman to represent the newly formed 23rd Congressional district has largely been overshadowed by the Hochul-Zeldin contest for NY Governor.

Historically, the 23rd has been a “purple” district this millenium. It has also been a deeply tarnished district with the last two representatives forced to resign for inappropriate behavior. A Democrat, Eric Massa, won the seat in the post Amo Houghton era, only to be forced out in a “tickling” scandal. Tom Reed, who rose to prominensce during the Trump administration recently quit the job after reports of a drinking problem that lead to sexual harassment allegations. Reed had been recently re-elected with a wide margin over Democratic challenges.

A new district has now been created and two worthy candidates are vying for the seat in Congress.

Max Della Pia, a retired Air Force pilot is a strong Democratic candidate and has spent many miles traveling the state to meet the public. Read more about Max here:

Nick Langworthy, the current NY Chairman of the Republican Party, is running a strong campaign in an election that will likely see the Republican party take control of the House of Representatives. Nick has been in Hornell, Wellsville, Cuba, and other small towns meeting the people and explaining his platform.
