Adios Amigos: Las Brasas closes Wellsville Mexican Restaurant

Since the iconic “Dill Pickle” closed after 33 years in business, the Route 417/Andover Road restaurant has gone through several less successful reincarnations. Perhaps the most successful was Las Brasas, an authentic Mexican restaurant, and now that operation has closed permanently.

Las Brasas, which also has an East Aurora NY location, had closed the doors in Wellsville last month and reported that closure was temporary. “We are closed for some repairs and upgrades but will be back open in a few days,” was the report from a manager of the East Aurora location.

Clearly, that temporary closure has now become permanent. Social media reports from customers paint a grim picture. Barb Woolston reports, “I called East Aurora and they said it is closed closed.”

Woolston went on to note that gift certificates for the Wellsville location will not be honored at the East Aurora location: “I have $100 in gift certificates for Wellsville Las Brasas grill. The Las Brasas Grill in East Aurora claim they are not the same business. Look at their Facebook page.”

The social media pages for the East Aurora location clearly advertised the two businesses as an emerging franchise. The owner of the property is listed as Elioena Fuentes of Springville NY who purchased the former “Dill Pickle” for $120,000 in 2020. Since that purchase the property taxes have not been paid.
