The weather was perfect, the breweries were pouring and the laughs and surprises never stopped during the first-ever Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce Brew Fest in Island Park on Saturday.
The admission ticket was good for samples from all of the breweries who participated from across the region. The beer ranged from ale to incredible flavors. There were also several games, contests and even a surprise flash mob from Witches Brew.
“It was unbelievable,” said Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bruce Thomas, who is usually not at a loss for words.
“We planned on a couple hundred and we were well over 300. it was a beautiful day and everything was spectacular,” Thomas said. “Everybody is having a great time and the breweries have been wonderful. We had a lot of help and this will be an annual affair, I promise.”
Mike’s On the Corner, a Scio restaurant, set up at Island Park with an Octobertfest-themed menu of beer bratwurst and sauerkraut, beef on weck, pork schnitzel and flammkuchen.
Participating breweries included Albany Distilling Co., Bradford Brew Station, Dublin Corner Farms Brewery, Four Mile Brewing, Kent Beer Company, Railhead Brewing Co., Southern Tier Distilling Co., Wellsville Brewing Company and Windy Brew.
