Cuba driver slams into house – medical chopper told to expedite

One person sustained potentially serious injuries Friday afternoon when a vehicle slammed into a house on School Street in the Town of Ischua. All available personnel were told to respond to the fire hall immediately. State Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Jonah R. Hamburg, 26, of Cuba.

A propane service company was also requested to expedite to the scene. A fire chief told 911 the victim suffered possible internal injuries and was “in and out of consciousness.” Multiple Troopers responded along with Ischua Code Enforcement, fire and EMS and Trans Am. Stat Medevac was also requested to expedite to the Olean Airport to transfer the victim to a hospital. The accident investigation continues.

Amity-based state police responded to New Hudson Friday night to investigate an alleged violation of an order of protection. As a result, troopers arrested Paul G. Phillips of Cuba with resisting arrest and second-degree criminal contempt for allegedly disobeying a court order. He was initially detained.

Olean-based Troopers were called to a reported armed robbery in the Village of Allegany Friday afternoon. Within 30 minutes, police had taken Alexa R. Knoxsah, 32, of Salamanca into custody. The suspect was charged with three felonies, to include first-degree robbery involving the use of a dangerous instrument, assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon stemming from a previous conviction. Knoxsah was initially detained.

Troopers from the Bath barracks Friday evening investigated a personal injury crash in the Town of Cameron. After investigating, state police arrested a male, 19, of Addison. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and having a blood alcohol content above .08%. A court appearance is pending.
