Officers make numerous felony arrests including attempted murder

Tuesday August 16, 2022

Wellsville Police arrested Jme A. Edwards, age 29 of Wellsville, charging her with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd (Class D Felony) and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th. The charges stem from an investigation conducted by Wellsville Police and assisted by Allegany County Assistant District Attorney Pete Degnan. Edwards was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Edwards was released and is due back in Wellsville Village Court at a later date.

Monday August 22, 2022

Wellsville Police, acting on a Bench Warrant issued by the Wellsville Village Court, arrested a male, age 48 of Belmont, for failure to appear in Court on a previous Harassment 2nd charge. He was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. The accused was released and is due back in Wellsville Village Court on October 4th at 4:30 pm.

Wellsville Police arrested Derek S. Foss, age 28 of Bolivar, charging him with Assault 3rd. The charge stems from an incident that took place on Pleasant Street on July 12th. Foss was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Foss was released and is due back in Wellsville Village Court on September 6th at 4:30 pm.

Wellsville Police arrested Gabriel A. Babbitt, age 21 of Wellsville, charging her with Attempted Murder 2nd (Class A Felony), Burglary 1st (Class B Felony), Assault 2nd (Class D Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th. The charges stem from an incident that took place on Clark Street on August 21st. Babbitt was additionally charged with Burglary 1st (Class B Felony), Attempted Robbery 2nd (Class C Felony), Conspiracy 4th (Class E Felony) and Assault 3rd, for an incident that took place on Scott Avenue on August 2nd. Babbitt was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Babbitt was committed to the Allegany County Jail on $15,000.00 cash bail, or $30,000.00 property bond or $60,000.00 partially secured bond. Wellsville Police arrested Nikki D. Hunt, age 36 of Friendship, charging her with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and Resisting Arrest. The charges stem from an incident that took place on South Main Street in November of 2021. Hunt was additionally charged with Petit Larceny for an incident that took place at Park Plaza on July 29th. Hunt was also arrested on a Bench Warrant issued by the Wellsville Village Court for failure to appear in Court in March of 2022 on previous AUO 2nd and other Vehicle & Traffic charges. Hunt was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Hunt was released under Pre Trial supervision and is due back in Wellsville Village Court on September 6th at 4:30 pm. Wellsville Police were assisted by the Friendship Police Department.

Wellsville Police arrested Sean M. Dawson, age 29 of Wellsville, charging him with Forcible Touching, Public Lewdness and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The charges stem from an incident that took place on East Genesee Street on August 13th. Dawson was additionally charged with another count of Public Lewdness and Endangering the Welfare of a Child for a second incident that took place on August 15th on East Genesee Street. Dawson was processed, issued and appearance ticket and released. Dawson is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court on September 6th at 4:30 pm.

Wellsville Police, acting on a Bench Warrant issued by the Wellsville Village Court arrested Denise L. Cross, age 54 of Wellsville, for Failure to appear in Court on previous Grand Larceny 4th and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th charges. Cross was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Cross was released and is due back in Wellsville Village Court on September 6th at 4:30 pm.

Wellsville Police, acting on a Bench Warrant issued by the Wellsville Village Court, arrested Mikayla S. Perkins, age 22 of Shinglehouse, PA, for failure to appear in Court on previous Criminal Possession of a Controlled 7th, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Criminal use of Drug Paraphernalia and AUO 2nd charges. Perkins was located by the New York State Police in Bolivar and turned over to Wellsville Police. Perkins was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Perkins was committed to the Allegany County Jail on $2,000.00 cash bail or $4,000.00 property bond or $10,000.00 partially secured bond. Perkins is due back in Wellsville Village Court on September 6th at 4:30 pm.
