An 82-year old man was attacked while mowing the lawn

On August 11, 2022, Troopers out of SP Amity arrested Shawn I. Deahn, 35 of Allegany County, NY for Attempted Murder 2nd degree, Assault 1st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Criminal Contempt 1st degree.
On August 11, 2022 at 6:05 P.M., Troopers out of SP Amity responded to a domestic dispute on Schawmut Road in the town of Genesee. Investigation determined that Shawn I. Deahn went to the residence on Schawmut Road with an active stay away order in place. The 82-year-old home owner was mowing the lawn and observed Deahn attempting to enter the residence. Deahn approached the 82-year-old and began stabbing the victim while on the lawn mower. The victim was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for life-threatening injuries. Deahn was later located and arrested. Deahn was processed at SP Amity and arraigned then remanded at the Allegany County Jail.
NYSP Forensic Identification Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Allegany County District Attorney’s Office assisted in this investigation.
Deahn was also arrested the day before the alleged stabbing incident. At that time, he was charged two felony counts of first-degree criminal contempt, felony aggravated family offense and aggravated harassment for allegedly making threats by phone.
