Allegany County first responders battle two fires in one morning

By Michael T. Baldwin

For the second time in six hours, a significant house fire has struck Allegany County. During the 8 a.m. hour Sunday, Willing firefighters were called to 820 County Road 29 (Stone Dam Road) for a reported “working fire.” As with the fire in Wellsville hours before, there was a substantial response from many neighboring departments.

County tax records show the Cape cod style home is owned by a couple from Genesee, PA. Some of the weary volunteers began returning to service around 10 a.m. Allegany County Fire Investigators have responded to the scene to determine the cause and origin. Utility crews responded as did a local company to remove a propane tank. Officials also requested the American Red Cross to the scene to provide help for two adults and six children.
