Alfred State College earns “Military Friendly” designation

Alfred State College (ASC) has earned 2022-23 Military Friendly ® school designation. The school has also received designation as a Military Friendly ® spouse school.

Over 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey, 665 schools earned awards level designations in Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The 2022-­2023 Military Friendly® Schools list can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com. Alfred State was designated Silver status along with the designation of being a Military Friendly ® spouse school.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in higher education. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey responses and government/agency public data sources within a logic-based assessment. The ability for institutions to meet thresholds for retention, graduation, job placement, repayment, persistence, and loan default rates for all students and specifically, for student veterans.

Alfred State Assistant Registrar and School Certifying Official, Veterans Benefits, Joann Bloxsom is proud of the designation. “Receiving the designation of a Military Friendly® School validates our commitment to continue to serve those who have served our country. We are so proud to continue to provide opportunities for veterans to get an Alfred State education.”

As part of its commitment to serving student veterans, Alfred State College offers a veterans’ lounge and exemptions on parking fees for student veterans. Alfred State also has a SALUTE honor society, which recognizes academic achievement of student veterans.
