Town Supervisor Dan Acton helps explain the proposed ban

Town of Alfred Clerk Janice Burdick released this notice of a public hearing to be held on June 9:

We asked Town of Alfred Supervisor Dan Acton to explain all the terminology and why this moratorium is being pursued:

“In our case cell phone towers, also tv and radio stations. I attached a handy chart that helps me since I don’t claim any scientific expertise.”

Acton went on to explain that the reason behind the proposed moratorium is not a lack available space or infrastructure issues, but a concern about public health:

“It’s not a space problem. Seems the scientific community has not reached a consensus on the health impact of microwaves. The FCC is developing new standards for these.”
