From Bolivar-Richburg School District:

On Sunday, May 22nd the Bolivar-Richburg School District held an open forum discussion on Football at Bolivar-Richburg CSD. The purpose of the forum was to hear the opinions of parents and students when it comes to football at BRCS. We asked those in attendance to consider and comment on three possible options for the 2022-23 football season. These options were:

1. Continue with the current structure and make-up of the BRCS football program, which would include fielding a varsity and modified football teams. (11-player football)

2. Continue with the current structure and make-up of BRCS football, which would include fielding a varsity and modified football teams, BUT play 8-player football.

3. Explore merging with a neighboring school district, which could include fielding varsity and modified football teams, but also the strong possibility of offering a junior-varsity team.

The forum was attended by over 30 parents and students who openly discussed their thoughts on the future of the BRCS football program. After about a 20-minute discussion it was clear that the majority of those in attendance supported continuing the current structure and to field a varsity and modified football team consisting of BRCS students only. The group also was in favor of continuing 11-player football, but understood if numbers drop there might be a need to play 8-player football in the future.

The administration and Board of Education would like to thank all the parents and students who attended Sundayโ€™s forum, and for sharing their honest thoughts about the vision of the future of BRCS football. Because of this, Bolivar-Richburg CSD will not be entertaining a merger with any neighboring school districts next year or in the very near future.

Letโ€™s Go Wolverines!

Respectfully,

Michael A. Retzlaff
