Wellsville’s Hope Center introduces support group

GriefShare is a grief support group that gives help and encouragement after the death of a loved one. GriefShare meets weekly for 13 weeks.

Each session will include 3 parts:

There will be a professional video that will help you through the process of your journey following the loss of your loved one.

You will receive a workbook containing resources and weekly exercises that can be used for journaling

You will have the opportunity to participate in small group discussions about the video and to share your situation and ask questions.

Local GriefShare meetings take place at the Hope Center, 4194 Bolivar Road, Wellsville.

100% support for local sports

Currently there are two meeting opportunities:

Mondays 6:30 to 8 PM (Ends Monday, August 15) Led by Bob Stern, assisted by Kate Rulison

Fridays 10:30 AM -noon (Ends Friday, August 19) Led by Hope Center Director Karl Hoyer assisted by Mary Hoyer

You may begin attending a GriefShare group at any point. They do not have to be taken in sequence and you can make up any that you missed.

Here is what some grief share members have to say about the program:

    * Mary: my dear brother was killed and my best friend took her life. I suppressed my grief and basically refused to face and deal with the losses. Being part of the GriefShare group has helped me to face and properly process the losses with others that understand.

    * Cindy: GriefShare has helped me very much since the loss of my husband last June.  As he got more and more ill, I saw the newspaper article about Karl Hoyer and Bob Stern leading an upcoming group.  I cut out the article and tucked it away on the calendar, knowing I was going to need support in the upcoming days.  The fact that the leaders had both experienced deaths of loved ones, told me that this was going to be much more valuable support than going to a generic counselor.  If you have suffered a death of a loved from cancer, such as I did, or accident, suicide or an untimely fatal situation, you will find relief at group.

    * Lisa: GriefShare saved my life. I lost my dad from covid. He was my best friend. I didn’t know how I could continue to live without him. When I came to GriefShare, I realized that everyone there was going through the same pain that I was. I didn’t feel alone anymore. GriefShare taught me how to move forward in life and the friends that I’ve made have become my family. Feel free to call if you have any questions: Karl (276) 732-1510 or Bob (585) 808-1158
