Genesee Township Volunteer Fire/EMS Department grieves with families after tragic fire

A message from the officers, on behalf of the department

All the members of the Genesee Volunteer Fire Department extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the young adults lost in the tragic fire at Slingerland Road on April 11, 2022. Words cannot adequately express our grief and sadness for this terrible loss.

We also hope for speedy healing and recovery for Charles and Michele Erway from their injuries.

Our department wants to thank all the mutual aid agencies and individuals that responded or were involved with this incident in any capacity. We are extremely grateful for all the help and support during , and in the aftermath of the incident. We are in awe of the professionalism, decorum, dignity, caring, and respect that was demonstrated by all the responders during a terribly difficult day. Your level of dedication is second to none, and we are proud to have you all as members of our emergency services family.
