Wellsville has a new group dedicated to supporting first responders and healthcare providers.

“Americas Road Guardians was founded in 2021 in Wellsville NY by a group of individuals who share a high level of love and respect for our nation’s Military, First Responders (Fire, EMT, Police) and members of Healthcare Services.”

Wellsville graduate Mike Roeske, class of 1999, is a main force behind the groups formation and formal 501c3 designation. The group’s introductory event this Saturday at the VFW will feature a great spaghetti dinner and an interesting guest speaker. This dinner is open to the public, only $8 for the meal!!

Roeske gives a preview of the guest speaker:

“We will have a guest speaker Justin Cogswell who is the CEO of Operation Build-Up, which fixes up cars to give to struggling vets…  He has been featured on TV with Mike Rowe from dirty jobs.  All proceeds will be used to kickstart our scholarship fund.”

The ALLEGANY County Heroes Scholarships for 60 students of the Class of 2023 throughout Allegany County. The scholarship is focused on students that want to join the Military, be a professional Fire Fighter, EMS, Police or be a Healthcare Provider.

It’s gonna be a great fund raiser with some music by DJ George

Americas Road Guardians have some other events planned this year:

Ride For Autism.  Saturday May 21.

All proceeds will go to the Doug Flutie Jr Foundation.  We are currently in discussion with the foundation to try and get Doug to attend this event.

September 24

We will be holding a ride from Wellsville to Buffalo and taking part in the Alzheimer’s Walk.  All ride fees will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association in Buffalo.  This event needs to have each person register so we will be creating a “Team” under our name and all ride fee money will be given to the Association that day.  Times are not yet determined but will be once the walk time is determined.

Read the official mission statement of Americas Road Warriors:

Americas Road Guardians was founded in 2021 in Wellsville NY by a group of individuals who share a high level of love and respect for our nation’s Military, First Responders (Fire, EMT, Police) and members of Healthcare Services.  Many of the original members have either served in the Military, been a First Responder and/or Healthcare Professional or have family members who have served in some capacity.  The decision was made to create an organization designed to give something back to these brave men and women who spend each day on the front lines defending and protecting our freedoms and our lives while doing so without regard to the mental and physical exhaustion they face.  Although the organization was created by motorcycle riders and enthusiast, we are neither a motorcycle club (MC) nor a riding club (RC) and have no affiliation with any type of MC or RC.  In fact, prospective members do not even need to own or ride a motorcycle and membership is open to men and woman of all ages.  The only requirement is that you show respect to our Military, First Responders and Healthcare Professionals.

Our mission is to give back and support our local heroes by creating scholarship funds to each school district in Allegany County NY for any student joining the Military, Police, EMT, Fire or Healthcare field.  We will also provide traffic control for any type of parade or charity ride event within Allegany County NY upon request, which includes ensuring roads are clear of debris, construction, dead animals, detours etc. prior to the event.  If requested by any of our local hero’s family, we will also escort funeral processions to their final resting place as well as providing a flag line during the funeral as well as at the cemetery.  Members will also be available for any other assistance the family may need.
