Water boil has ended, read letter from fire department leadership

For over ten days Andover residents have been re-living what was a normal part of daily life in Andover 150 years ago: Boiling all drinking and cooking water to keep people from getting dysentery or other water-born disease, which once was a leading cause of death in Allegany county.

According to officials in Andover, all the modern systems of keeping water safe and clean are back up and running.

Fire department chief, Dennis Givens and president Brian Perkins co-authored the letter below to the Andover community. Concerns about the fire siren are addressed and the alarm is sounded over the dwindling ranks in volunteer firefighters.
