The Dr. F. Clifton Miller Trust Fund recently purchased a new birthing bed for the maternity unit at Jones Memorial Hospital. The new bed is similar to the current birthing beds, but has a few more features that are much appreciated by the patients and the nurses.
According to OB Nurse Cierra Dean, in photo, two of the features of the new bed that are especially notable are a thicker mattress and attached handles on the lower, removeable part of the bed that are used to convert it from labor to delivery. There is also a separate mattress that is installed to make post-partum more comfortable.
The Dr. Miller Trust Fund was started as a way of continuing Dr. Miller’s legacy of caring for women and children in our community. The fund is used to purchase equipment that has a direct impact on the healthcare provided to women and children.
