The bridge crosses the Genesee River on County Route # 26 in the Town of Belfast
Allegany County Public Works Superintendent Justin Henry announced that the planned closure of the “Belfast Bridge” has been abruptly moved ahead to today. As of this notice the bridge is closed until further notice and there is not a detour route provided.
“Please be advised effective at 11:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, February 2, until further
notice, local bridge 08-07 over the Genesee River on County Route # 26 (Belfast Road)
will be closed to traffic. There will not be an onsite detour to accommodate traffic.
Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and to expect the closure to remain in
effect for the foreseeable future. Public updates to the status of local bridge 08-07
will be made as new information becomes available. Thank you for your cooperation”
