The Wellsville Village Police Department, assisted by the New York State Police, responded to a report of a man who was stabbed early this morning.
Troopers said the village police department will be handling the investigation.
The victim was airlifted this morning by a medical helicopter around 7:30 a.m.
Family members on social media said a female acquaintance stabbed him and they believe he drove to Jones Memorial Hospital from the 417 in the area of McDonald’s. They also said they believe he is in critical condition.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Department confirmed there was not an arrest or jailing of a female from the incident as of this afternoon. It is not known if police have talked to the suspect in the case.
The Wellsville Sun is withholding names until police confirm them following the investigation.
