Fermented cabbage isn’t for everyone, but for those who love the “kraut,” the tangy flavor and crunchy texture is a culinary treat. The skilled sauerkraut makers at a Wellsville church are happy to announce that this years’ Election Dinner was a great success and fundraiser:
“Trinity Lutheran Church, North Main St, Wellsville wishes to thank the local community for support of the church’s Election Day Sauerkraut Dinner. Church members put forth their sauerkraut-making expertise and cooking skills; sauerkraut-lovers ate heartily and had a lively social outing.
Thanks to our many supporters, profits have been returned to the community with $500 checks each – the Allegany County United Way and the Salvation Army. The efforts of these two organizations are greatly appreciated.
This dinner event returns again next year with eat-in and revived take-out meals. Historically speaking, the number of years doing this dinner is a blur; next year will likely be the 105th or maybe 106th year.”
