The Wellsville Sun has learned Allegany County 3rd Assistant District Attorney Michael B. Finn has been removed as an assistant district attorney today.
A call to Finn went to voicemail and the Sun left a voice message. Also, a message was left on Allegany County District Attorney Keith Slep’s direct line at his office in Belmont.
Allegany County Legislator Mike Healy, R-Belmont, who is the chairman of the Allegany County Public Safety Committee said this will not affect the way the department is run.
Healy said Slep did not have to tell the legislature about the move.
“That’s the district attorney’s decision right there, other than that I don’t have any comment. They (assistant DA’s) serve at his pleasure, they are his appointment,” Healy told the Wellsville Sun. “If it’s mid-level management or if they belong to a union, it’s a different story.”
As for the department, Healy said, “I don’t expect any change in the status quo in terms of services that office is able to provide.”
