From Mike Raptis, Chair of the Wellsville DRI committee, 11/16/21

Thank you all for attending last month’s meeting of the Wellsville Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The next meeting will be this Wednesday, Nov. 17 at the David A. Howe Library again at 6:00.

John Simmins of Alfred University did a wonderful job explaining what the DRI is and some of its parameters. At this stage we are trying to gather great ideas for projects.

Some ideas include:

Electric car charging stations, an ATV park, a hotel complex, a sports complex, a river restaurant with tubing and kayaking, a sporting and camping goods store, a water complex for children to use inside or out, warehousing and trucking center, 3-D printing facility, buying the Alstom Main Street plant to put something in it, a bridge over the river by the Alfred State School.

The list is impressive but we need to add to it.  The State if very eager to help downtown’s all across the State to improve the economic well-being of the community and increase employment.

Please tell others of the meeting this Wednesday and try to attend again.

If you have ideas that you wish to share, please feel free to send an email to

On behalf of the Wellsville Economic Development Board I want to thank you all for your community spirit and concern. “LET”S GROW THIS TOGETHER”
