Welcome Week at Alfred University

Alfred University is holding an orientation for new international students on Monday through Wednesday.  Welcome Week for all students is Thursday, August 19th through Sunday, August 22nd.  Classes begin on Monday, August 23rd.

A series of fun events and opportunities are offered to students and their families. Monday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, a BBQ is being held on the Brick Lawn to kick off the week. 

Baldwin of New Starts Farm

The week ends on Sunday with the Alfred Farmers Market holding a Tomato Festival from 11 am to 3:00 pm on the corner of Main Street and Saxon Drive.  Music will be provided by Casual Reply. The Martelle Studio out of Wellsville will hold a Salsa dancing demonstration from 1:00 to 1:30. Crafts and games for kids will be taking place at the Kid’s Tent. It is an opportunity for the local customers to meet incoming students and their families and for them to meet local farmers and artisans. The market is raffling off a wooden handmade wall hanging donated by Tom Baldwin from New Starts Farm. 

AU will also be providing students with a trip to Foster Lake from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday.  Games will be held on the Brick lawn at 1:30, dinner in the Aide Dining Hall from 4:30 pm app 6:30 pm, and ending with dessert from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bartlett.
