V-Ry The Sports Guy: News From The Buffalo Sabres

Last week Sabres fans received sad news with the passing of team great Rene Robert. In the 1970’s, Robert starred on the legendary “French Connection” line with teammates Gilbert Perreault and Rick Martin. He was teammates with longtime Sabres color commentator Mike Robitaille. Robert will be fondly remembered by both fans and players alike as one of the greatest Sabres players ever and an even better human being. However, some exciting news came out this week; after an exhaustive search the Sabres have finally found their next head coach.

The team announced on Tuesday that they have hired former interim head coach Don Granato on a permanent basis to be the 20th coach in franchise history. Granato joined the team as an assistant in 2019, bringing nearly 30 years of success and diverse hockey experience to the reeling franchise. It’s by no means a flashy hire, but a solid one nonetheless.
