Jason Mehmel Sentenced for 2012 Stabbing

An Angelica man is headed to prison for stabbing his friend to death in 2012. In Allegany County court Wednesday afternoon, Jason E. Mehmel was sentenced to serve 8 ½ years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision. He was initially charged with second-degree murder following the stabbing death of Jason Cipriano, who was 29 at the time. His body was found on Tuckers Corners Road in Amity. Investigators learned that Cipriano had gotten into an argument with Mehmel – that turned physical. Mehmel allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Cipriano in the chest. An hour later, he surrendered to State Police.
