The NBA playoffs are heating up with the Phoenix Suns taking on the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Finals. The Suns are without point guard Chris Paul who is in Covid protocol, but they lead the series 1-0. Shooting guard Devin Booker scored 40 points in game 1 en route to a triple double, with game 2 tonight. The Eastern Conference Finals kick off Wednesday with The Milwaukee Bucks facing the Atlanta Hawks. At the time this article was written the game had yet to be played. Both teams are coming off hard fought game 7 wins in the semifinals. The Bucks beat the Brooklyn Nets in overtime to close out the series, while the Hawks took down the Philadelphia 76ers who were the number one seed in the East to win the series.

Spanning the Globe 

In other sports news, the UEFA EURO has entered the round of 16, and France and Italy seem like the clear favorites to make the finals. In addition, Christian Eriksen has had a pacemaker installed and is expected to make a full recovery after suffering cardiac arrest during a EURO match last Saturday. In the motor sports world, Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 France Grand Prix on Sunday. Team Red Bull claimed 1st and 3rd and still lead the Constructor’s Championship in points with Team Mercedes close behind after Lewis Hamilton finished in 2nd. Furthermore, Los Angeles Angels’ pitcher and power hitter Shohei Ohtani will be the first Japanese born player to participate in the MLB Home Run Derby on All-Star Weekend. Lastly, Spanish golfer Jon Rahm won the PGA U.S. Open with a flourish on Sunday.
