Allegany County Republican Party Primaries are June 22nd. Early Voter Info

Share:

Primary elections in Allegany County are generally, “the election,” with a super majority of voters being registered Republicans. Open elections are almost a thing of the past in this county, where even the Democratic stronghold of Wellsville is now decisively Republican controlled. In fact so controlled that several key village elections were uncontested, namely Mayor and Village Justice.

The primary elections next month are for Republicans only, and they may only vote within their respective district. For example, Brian Brandes of Wellsville, who I have a rooster named after, can only vote in the District 4 primary. Incumbents Steven Havey and Gary Barnes are being challenged by James Rumfelt and Greg McAndrew, you can read our interviews by clicking on candidate names for link.

Republicans from District 4(Wellsville/Andover), can not vote for republicans from other districts. The ballot in District 4 will only list the Republican candidates in that district. Registered Democrats and Independents are not eligible to vote in this election.
