The catastrophic loss of manufacturing operations, and jobs, in Western New York continues. Nearly a year after the Siemens facility(previously Dresser-Rand) in Wellsville closed, the German based international corporation alerted the NYS Department of Labor that the Olean facility will do the same.
A total of 421 jobs will be lost, with the first round of ‘separations’, forty one employees will be permanently laid-off on July 23rd, 2021. The plant will cease operations on June 30th, 2022. Olean City Council President John Crawford made following statement:
