Wellsville Central: Updated Football and Soccer Game Spectator Guidelines

New district rule: All students K-8 attending a football or soccer game must be accompanied by an adult

Reminders about E-Bikes and smoking/vaping on school property

Dear Wellsville Students and Families,

To help ensure the safety and well-being of all students, athletes, families, and spectators, the district is implementing an updated spectator procedure for all football and soccer games.

In recent years, the areas surrounding our athletic events have expanded to include the playgrounds, baseball field, upper and lower grass soccer fields, parking lots, and the hills and fields bordering the property. With students and spectators moving throughout these areas, the district cannot reasonably provide adequate supervision across the expanded area while also effectively supervising the athletic event itself.

Going forward, all students in grades K–8 attending football or soccer games must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or another responsible adult.

The accompanying adult is responsible for supervising the student throughout the game. Students are expected to remain with their accompanying adult and stay within the designated spectator stands or spectator areas for the duration of the event.

Students should not be on the playgrounds, baseball fields, other athletic fields, parking lots, surrounding hills, or other areas outside the designated spectator areas.

There has also been an increase in the number of people riding bicycles, scooters, E-bikes, and E-scooters in the immediate area surrounding the football and soccer fields. Riding bicycles and scooters in this area is prohibited.

E-Bikes and E-Scooters

E-Scooters & E-Bikes are not to be ridden on school sidewalks, on walkways or the track, or on our campus at any time.  Please refer to the attached graphic for more information on current laws regarding the use of E-Scooters and E-Bikes.

Traditional Bicycles and Scooters

For the safety of players, spectators, staff, and others attending the event, traditional bicycles and scooters must be walked through the immediate area surrounding the fields. Please dismount and walk bicycles and scooters whenever entering this area.

Tobacco and Nicotine Free Schools

Reminder: Smoking, vaping, and tobacco use are not allowed on school property per our WCSD Code of Conduct and NYS Law.

These procedures are intended to establish clear expectations for supervision and movement throughout the athletic complex, allowing staff and event personnel to focus appropriately on the athletic event while helping maintain a safe environment for everyone.

We appreciate the cooperation and support of our families and community as we work together to keep our students safe and provide a positive experience at our athletic events.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
