Hart’s Jewelry originated on a country road outside of Angelica NY. William Hart began his career as a country craftsmen, designing and crafting his own line of sterling silver jewelry. He had a small display in the house and would attend craft shows throughout the northeast. Hart won various awards for his jewelry and had loyal following of his work. In 1980 he attended the Gemological Institute of America and graduated as a Certified Graduate Gemologist. In 1988 the Hart’s purchased 148 North Main St. in downtown Wellsville and the rest is history.
The beautiful and historic building was built in 1868 and was the first brick building on Main Street. It has housed many well- known businesses over the years in Wellsville, including a bank and a meat market. Through the years the Hart’s restored the building to its original splendor. The Hart’s Jewelry business and the Hart Building are an important part of the downtown business community. In 2022 Hart’s Jewelry celebrated their 40th year in business with the Wellsville community.
