3rd Annual Apple Festival is set for September 19th!!

PENN YAN–Wager’s Cider Mill, a third-generation, family-owned apple business in Penn Yan, will welcome the fall season by offering several new family-friendly experiences at their farm.
For the first time ever, they are offering u-pick apples and an apple-themed corn maze at their Hoyt Road orchard. A customer favorite, honeycrisp apples, will be among the u-pick selections along with fall snacks, refreshments, new fall drinks, hard cider – and selections from local breweries and distilleries.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome our customers into the orchard for the first time,” said Kaylee Wager, owner of Wager’s Cider Mill. “Many of our regulars have asked if they could pick their own apples at the farm. For over 50 years, Wager’s has homegrown and handpicked the apples that are sold in our store, but with our newest generation of orchards, we are now able to welcome the public to our Hoyt Road location.”
The farm experience will open on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Hoyt Road in Penn Yan. Follow the signage for the orchard parking area. After the opening, the hours will be Fridays, noon to 6 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the maze are $8 per person for adults, $5 for kids and littles 2 and under are free. Wager’s Cider Mill retail location at 256 E. Main St. recently opened for the season, and they are planning to hold the third annual Apple Festival, Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event features many family-friendly attractions to celebrate fall and the harvest season.
Admission is free. Given the limited parking at Wager’s, visitors will be directed to Sherman Street and overflow into the Yates County Fairgrounds on the day of the event.
Vendors will be onsite in addition to the selections from Wager’s including: Bluff Point Blooms, Kass’ Kettle Corn, Shiek’s Maple Products, October Farms Sourdough, Oh Fudge, Rise and Shine Food Truck, Carilynn Creations, Aurora Bath&Beauty, Pieces of You, Betelgeuse Pottery, Wild Rebels Hat Bar, Balloon Art by Walt Crum, After Hours Stitch Co., Sunbeam Sister Slimes and a handful of other craft vendors – totaling approximately 20 makers joining in the day’s fun. The vendors will accept cash.
There is free face painting for kids, games and tastings. Mini apple pies, cider donuts, sweet cider, cider slushies and hard cider can be purchased in addition to free apple and cheese tastings.
Geoff and Kaylee Wager purchased Wager’s Cider Mill in 2020 from Geoff’s father, Craig. In addition to the apples they sell throughout the fall, the business is home to an antique in-house apple press that is used to make cider the old-fashioned way.
Throughout the season, the store will have some 26 varieties of apples and also plums, peaches, grapes and cherries. It is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through December.
