It was a good night for the Wellsville Central School District as voters approved the budget, the purchasing of new buses, the support for the library and board members.
The budget passed, 234-111.

Wellsville Superintendent Aaron Wolfe said, “I was very pleased and we are looking forward to another great year. It was a good process. I think people are looking forward to programming with students, looking forward to moving ahead with our plans and we really appreciate the voters coming out.”
With schools like Naples pointing out electric buses are not the answer for rural districts in the cold and on hills, Wellsville put up a proposition to buy three more diesel buses. Alma Hill is the highest point in Western New York.
Wellsville voters approved the bus proposition, 248-99.
“With the zero emission bus mandate, we are really trying to get our fleet up to levels of newer buses so we can drive those buses longer,” Wolfe said. “We are eventually going to need to purchase electric buses, but we are trying to get our diesel fleet up to speed so we can hold onto those buses longer.”
The library vote passed, 263-84.
The two candidates for the board of education were also elected: Heather Gill (247 votes) and Michael Chaffee (269 votes).
