 The Belmont American Legion Family is inviting all residents of Belmont and communities throughout Allegany County to attend the 2026 Memorial Day Weekend Celebrations, taking place Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25th, 2026 in the historic Village of Belmont, NY.

This year’s expanded celebration will honor local veterans and active service members while also serving as a featured kickoff to the Village of Belmont’s upcoming 250th Celebration this summer.

The four-day weekend will include community gatherings, live entertainment, ceremonies, fireworks, vendors, food, and activities for all ages.

Weekend Highlights Include:

  • Annual Summer Kickoff Celebration
  • American Auxiliary Unit 808 3rd annual Vendors & Artisans Market
  • Live music and DJs throughout the weekend
  • Photobooth, raffles, poppy sales, and bake sale
  • Open club activities and community bowling
  • Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies
  • Sons of the American Legion Squadron 808 Chicken barbecue following Memorial Day services
  • A spectacular fireworks extravaganza by Young Explosives, viewable throughout the village

Residents throughout Allegany County are encouraged to attend and take part in honoring those who have served our country while celebrating community pride and patriotism.

As part of this year’s observance, organizers are also nodding to  promotion of the Belmont 250th Celebration, with:

  • A commemorative 250th Edition Memorial Day Program
  • A commemorative 250th sand sculpture by renowned artist Eric Jones
  • More Community Events on July 4th including a proposed  All County Veterans Parade
  • Promotion across social media, local press, banners, and village-wide digital signage

Funds raised through sponsorships and commemorative program sales help support Belmont’s annual Fireworks Extravaganza and additional weekend festivities.

Community-Wide Patriotic Decoration Initiative Announced

Residents and businesses are being encouraged to decorate homes, storefronts, and properties in red, white, and blue beginning Memorial Day weekend through July 4th.

Organizers are asking the community to display patriotic lighting, 250th flags, banners, bunting, and other decorations to help transform the Village of Belmont into a breathtaking patriotic destination both day and night.

Community organizers say the vision is to create a unified display of hometown pride while celebrating Belmont’s rich history and honoring America’s veterans.

The Belmont American Legion Post 808, Belmont Rotary, and the Village of Belmont are collaborating to support the initiative. Shannon Harding, Village Trustee and President of the Belmont American Legion Auxiliary #808 was appointed by Mayor DeTine to chair the Belmont 250th Celebration Committee,  and is helping coordinate community participation and promotion efforts.

Businesses and organizations who are interested in sponsorships for the 250th, along with volunteers are requested.
