As the Wellsville Village Board was set to close another meeting, the trustees passed one last resolution that had a lot of meaning to those in the room and the community.

The new Madison Street Bridge was dedicated in the memory of the late Daniel Whitford.

The LC Whitford Company is known nationwide, headquartered in Wellsville and makes sure the village and town — as well as Allegany County — get the same first-class infrastructure as their other major jobs.

The Madison Street Bridge is another project in the line of greatness for the Main Street company.

Wellsville Mayor Ed Fahs said, “We felt this was appropriate for several reasons.”

Fahs listed:

• The LC Whitford Company has been an integral part of our community for over 100 years.

• They are one of our largest local employers.

• They have led the construction of several important local projects such as the David A. Howe Library, the original Village Wastewater Treatment Plant, (including a recent upgrade), and the development of Riverwalk Plaza.

• LC Whitford coordinates bridge, railroad, and construction jobs in several states including New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Virginia, to name a few).

• And through it all, they continue to be headquartered in Wellsville, New York!

Fahs added, “Starting a successful business is hard enough, but continuing to grow and adapt for over 100 years is remarkable. We appreciate the LC Whitford Company’s continued efforts to stay at the cutting edge of their respective industry and for maintaining their bond with the Village of Wellsville.”
